The CCIE Routing and Switching lab exam is an eight-hour, hands-on exam which requires the candidates to configure and troubleshoot a series of complex networks to a given specification. Knowledge of troubleshooting would prove an important skill and candidates are expected to diagnose as well as solve the issues as part of the CCIE lab exam. They will not only configure the end-user systems but will also be responsible for all the devices residing in the network.

For the past couple of months, I have been looking at ways that people can prepare for the CCIE Routing and Switching Lab Exam. I have talked to a lot of recent CCIEs and a bunch of CCIE candidates. They all have acknowledged that lots and lots of hands-on practice on gear are the key to success.  The candidates of the CCIE R&S really need to know the range of technology. You need to practice using one or more preparation vendors so that the candidates get exposed to different question styles seem helpful as well. spoto club reviews

But I would believe that the successful CCIE R&S candidates also need to have some serious soft skills so that they can demonstrate on an eight-hour test that they have to gain the technical knowledge to be certified as a CCIE.

Lab Grading:

You won’t need 100% to pass the exam; you would just require about 80% in troubleshooting module, and 80% in the configuration module in the stipulated time frame. So, during your practice and during the actual lab, you would need certain things to keep in mind, the point value of each question, and how long is it going to take to solve it.

As it was mentioned by the Cisco Services “don’t lose too much time working on the 2- or 3-point question.”

If a 2-point question in any section is taking you too long to solve, in order to be prepared to skip it until the end of that section, or you could just deliberately ignore it. It might be difficult for beginner to make a suitable decision. The CCIE candidates will need to satisfy a hard score to pass the lab exam, but they do not need to complete all of their hard tasks.

However, you are not required to sacrifice the connectivity, yet you can deliberately implement a fix that is not allowed in the lab, in order to lose a few points, but still achieve access to all devices. You should scan the entire lab and note what will be the easiest for you to implement. At exam time you would have to complete the easiest points first so as to get you enough to pass the section.

How to Pass the CCIE R&S Lab Exam?

Candidates would have to pass the Core Knowledge section containing all the short-answer questions and the Lab Exam section in order to achieve CCIE certification. However, the Core Knowledge section is scored as Pass or Fail, and the percentage of correct responses aren’t going to affect the candidate's overall percent score.

The candidate would have to answer at least three of the four short-answer questions correctly to pass the Core Knowledge section, which will be indicated with a 100% mark on the score report. If candidates have answered less than three correctly, the Core Knowledge section will be marked 0%, which would be indicating a Fail. A 0% does not necessarily indicate the candidates have answered all the questions incorrectly and the zero does not get averaged into the overall score. Candidates should be aware of the possibility to pass the configuration and troubleshooting parts of the exam but fail the Core Knowledge section and thus not earn CCIE certification.

Results:

You can review your results of the lab exam online, usually within 48 hours. Results are Pass or Fail and failing score reports would indicate major topic areas where additional study and preparation may be useful.

Conclusion:

So now, we have a clear idea about the grading system of the CCIE R&S Lab exam, as well as the conditions to pass, But I would like to recommend you that if you want to increase your chances of clearing the exam, joining the SPOTO CCIE Club, will provide you with the best study materials.
