In this article, I am going to tell you about how I passed the SPOTO CCIE Security (400-251) exam in 1st Attempt. Cisco system’s CCIE Security certification might be considered as the most difficult and highest paid IT certification in the world. Millions of candidates enroll every year with the aim of becoming a CCIE Security, but many back off in the mid-way. Trust me; the journey requires lots of dedication as well as commitment.

More info can be found in SPOTO WhatsApp Study Group.

Here are the tips, which I would like to recommend you as they act as my secret guide for the preparations of my CCIE Security exam.

  • Finding a good Cisco training institute:

Yes, the first step which most of the candidates don’t take it seriously is choosing a good Cisco Training Institute. After much research, I found that there are over 10,000 Cisco training institute which is available online, but only 4 to 5 percent of them would be helpful for you to clear the CCIE Security exam. SPOTO is one such institute; it provides you with customized training which in turn will be quite helpful to you for cracking CCIE Security as well as lots of other Cisco certification in the first attempt.

  • Learning from experienced trainers:

It is very important that you get your training from the people who would have already done their CCIE, especially the CCIE Security. I would have taken lots of help from them for marking the topics which should spend the most time on. You should select such an institute, which provides you with a well-dedicated team of certified and experienced instructors who have the knowledge of all the DO’S and DON’TS of the field as I did.

  • Lab Practice:

Lab practice is what going to make you learn as well as understand concepts. To clear your exam it is considered to be of utmost importance that you perform at least 500 hours of lab training. I, myself have to spend around more than 580 hours before appearing in the exam. If you would be able to understand a concept then you need to implement it; if implemented you would require to repeat it until the time you would be able to do it in the minimum time possible.

  • Keep yourself updated with recent information:

It is very important for you to keep yourself updated with the current information, as CCIE exams pattern changes from time to time so considered it as very important to keep yourself updated with all the latest news. For CCIE lab examination; Lab equipment, as well as software’s, should be same. So, when you practice in Lab make sure you are practicing on the right equipment. Do your research as I did and keep yourself ready for whatever comes in your way.

  • Never rely on a single book:

I personally spent very less time on books. Networking is considered to be quite a vast field, so try to learn from as many books as possible. There are several books available, like Cisco docs, RFC’s, press books, online material, etc. Also, various guides are available, which you would prefer to prepare for the CCIE Security Exam.

  • Managing Time, speed and knowledge the references:

It would be considered important to have hands-on technical skills as well as a great speed for clearing CCIE Security exam in one go. Time management is considered as the key, and I would like to advise you to start at a slow pace and achieve a good pace. As it is an open book examination, so you are required to gain knowledge of the right references for commands as well as for instructions.

I would like to say that your success in CCIE Security Exam, depends on the very first step which I have mentioned here. I had lots of help from the instructors present in the SPOTO, to clear out this Exam.
